Women In History
Essay Contest

In honor of the often unsung women in history, YWCA Butler presents the first annual Women in History Essay contest for all Butler County students in seventh and eighth grades. Students were invited to submit an essay that celebrates a woman or group of women in history, highlighting their inspirational accomplishments. However, students were also asked to explore their subject in a more personal way, and write how this woman serves as a role model and how her life relates to their goals for the future. Three students each in seventh and eighth were chosen from nearly 100 entries and received a gift card prize. Their winning entries are below. Congratulations Addison, Rebecca, Ruby, Liam, Giana and Bailie!
