Census 2020
This year, we have the opportunity and responsibility to participate in the decennial Census. YWCA is taking up the fight to ensure a full, fair and accurate census. $675 billion of federal funds is dependent on this data, in addition to our representation in Congress.
Census data helps allocate funding for education programs, housing, healthcare, infrastructure, domestic violence programs, child care programs and more. And here's what's so critical - we only get one shot at this, and we live with the information for a decade.
The last Census was in 2010. Think back to a decade ago and remember how much has changed. Ten years ago, Steve Jobs was just releasing the iPad!
We have to get this right. I ask all of you - do your part and respond to the Census. It has never been easier to respond on your own, whether online, over the phone or by mail.

People of color are often more likely than white people to live in what the U.S. Census Bureau has determined are “hard-to-count” census tracts – areas that are populated by groups that are at risk of being undercounted in the U.S. Census. Children, recent immigrants, and households with poor internet access are also considered “hard-to-count."
